Opportunity
Come join the North/Eastside Senior Coalition! The North/Eastside Senior Coalition is a $500,000+ non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life for all senior adults by providing programs, advocacy, and resources to assist them to remain independent, active, and influential in Madison's North and Eastside community.

We are seeking an organized and outgoing individual to serve as a Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator. Under the direction of the Programs Manager, you will recruit, train, support and provide limited supervision to NESCO volunteers. You will assist agency staff with the planning, coordinating, and overseeing of NESCO�s annual fundraising and community events, including but not limited to AppleFest, BratFest, the Family Caregiver Resource Fair, and the Senior Health Fair. �Retired senior adults and those of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Passion for NESCO�s mission.
  • Successful large events planning experience AND/OR successful experience in a volunteer coordination role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to: interact with others regardless of gender, class, ethnicity, age, or disability; develop and maintain effective relations with agency volunteers, local businesses and other agencies that serve or support senior adults.
  • Ability to coordinate and help with special event set-up and take-down, including ability to lift and/or shift weight such as tables and chairs.
  • Work hour flexibility.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office software, such as Word and Excel preferred.
  • Bachelor�s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field or the equivalent in training and work experience preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver�s License, an acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation required.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a part-time, limited-term position that requires a variable work schedule based on upcoming events (from 4-40 hours per week) for the remainder of 2012 (maximum 192 hours in 2012). This could become a part-time regular position (maximum 624 hours) in 2013, subject to budget and organization needs. Core hours are generally between 8 am-4:30 pm, Monday-Friday but some evening and weekend work is required. Pay is $12.50 per hour. We also offer a great working environment with committed coworkers, in Warner Park�s beautiful community center, with free onsite parking.
