Opportunity

The North/Eastside Senior Coalition is a non-profit organization serving people age 55 and older on Madison's north and east sides. The focus of the Volunteer Coordinator is to coordinate and manage adult and student volunteers who visit the homes of senior adults to assist them with simple tasks. Also responsible for coordinating intergenerational programs. The Volunteer Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Programs Director. Additional Duty: Coordinates Home Chore Volunteer Recruitment for the four Madison senior coalitions.

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of an associate�s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, valid Wisconsin Driver�s License, and reliable transportation. Good organizational and management skills are required. Prior experience in working with senior adults and volunteers is helpful. Experience with website and graphics design preferred.

Responsibilities

* General: Assesses volunteers applying to do home chores and senior adults requiring home chore services to ensure the best fit for the volunteer and for the senior adult. Assesses senior adult clients (whose name is provided by case managers) and locating the best volunteer who is most suited for each particular situation. Coordinates and monitors intergenerational activities that cultivate youth and senior adult partnerships.

* Supervisory: Monitors volunteers; reports and concerns of volunteers regarding senior adults to the case managers. Oversees weekly meetings during the school year at Madison East High School. Assesses matches of volunteers and senior adults on a continuing basis.

* Administrative: Schedules appointments for volunteers and senior adults to meet. Maintains records and completes monthly reports.

* Professional Development: Attends continuing education programs as available.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week); it includes flexible work schedule with core hours generally falling 8am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Starting rate of pay is $27,000 per year.
